Maintenance Breakdown

Skimming and Brushing

Daily Skimming: Use a skimmer net to remove leaves, insects, and other debris from the surface. This reduces the burden on your filter and prevents buildup.
Weekly Brushing: Brush the walls, floor, and steps of the pool weekly to prevent algae buildup. Pay extra attention to corners, crevices, and around ladders or steps.

Balance Water Chemistry

*Balanced pH: Keep pH between 7.2 and 7.6 to avoid eye irritation, corrosion, and scaling.
*Alkalinity: Alkalinity should be between 80-120 ppm, which stabilizes pH levels.
*Chlorine: Maintain free chlorine between 1-5 ppm to sanitize the water.
*Calcium Hardness: Aim for 200-400 ppm to avoid corrosion or scaling.

Pool Equipment check

Inspect and Clean Baskets: Empty the skimmer and pump baskets weekly to prevent clogging and improve circulation.

Check and Maintain Pumps: Inspect pump performance monthly, checking for leaks or unusual noises.

Filter Cleaning

Backwashing Sand or DE Filters: Sand and Diatomaceous Earth (DE) filters need regular backwashing to clear out trapped debris.
Cartridge Filters: Rinse cartridges every 4 weeks and soak them in a filter cleaner solution annually to extend their life.

Filter Run Time: Run your pool filter for at least 8-12 hours daily during peak season to ensure thorough water circulation.
